20250113_요즘 든 생각

 

작년 12월 비상계엄 사태 이후 이성적이고 온전한 사상을 가지고 있는 국민들은 밤낮으로 잠 못 드는 것이 한 달이 지나도록 지내고 있다. 나 역시 그중 한 명이다. 잠을 자다가도 금방 깨어 일어나면 뉴스를 본다. 미친 듯한 사회적 스트레스가 너무 가중되고 있다. 나는 지금의 야당이 너무 선비답다고 말하고 싶다. 나 역시 선비 같은 인생을 추구하지만, 지금은 적어도 철퇴의 시절이 필요하다. 너무 안일하게 생각하는 야당을 나는 더욱 몰아붙이라고 말하고 싶다. 왜냐하면 국민들이 그리고 나란 존재가 스트레스로 아무것도 못 하기 때문이다.

 물론, 아무 거리낌 없이 살아가는 이도 있다. 그런 사람들 보면 참으로 부럽다. 이것은 진심이다. 내가 뭐라고 나라의 국난이 생기니 온통 무엇을 해야 할지 모르고, 이것저것 두서없이, 밤낮을 가리지 않고 설치는 잠으로 모든 것이 피폐해지고 있다. 

 나라의 경제는 엉망이 되어가고 있다. 부채는 앞으로 상상할 수 없는 시절이 다가올 것을 바보 같은 여당은 알지 못한다. 그저 안일한 자신의 이익만을 추구하는데 결국 나라가 있고, 국민이 있어야 그들의 자산과 재산이 보증된다는 것을 하나만 알고, 둘은 모르는 바보들이다.

 우리 속담에 “이 보 전진을 위한 일 보 후퇴”라는 말이 있다. 진실로 그들이 보수를 주창했다면, 숙이고 엎드리고 와신상담해야 했는데, 끝까지 잘했다고, 그저 조그만 어느 정도의 시간을 벌어보겠다고, 과거의 시간을 잘못 해석하여, 과거와 지금은 같으나 다른 당면과제인데 마치 하나의 틀로 보는 우매한 족속들이 되었다. “가래로 막을 것을 호미로 막는다”라는 우매한 짓을 하고 있다. 시기를 놓치면 좌와 우 상관없이 모든 것이 무너지는데 공생을 생각하고 행동하는 짓은 결국 이기적인 발상으로 공멸을 선택한 것이다.

 참으로 멍청하고 어리석고 답답한 인사들이다. 무엇이 우선인지, 정녕 모른단 말인가… 지금은 후일을 도모할 때이다. 그들이 보수라고 아직도 여전히 주창하고 싶다면 최소한 역사를 정확하게 인지해야 한다. 이미 시기는 놓쳤다. 지금은 그저 석고대죄 만이 살길인데… 너희가 너희의 우두머리를 잘못 가르쳐서 그리된 것이다. 처음에는 통제할 수 있을 거라는 착각과 그저 떨어지는 떡고물을 더 받아먹으려는 수작에 오히려 그 경거망동 된 수작질이 너희를 패망의 지름길로 인도한 것이다. 

즉, 스스로 무너진 것이다. 너희의 아집과 독선이 너희 자체를 무너뜨리고 사상누각이 모래성으로 쌓아 무너졌다는 것이다. 분명 실기를 놓치지 않고 해결할 시간과 명분이 있었음에도 외면하고 아둔하게 행동하여 결국 그리된 것이다.

 이제 너희는 다음이 없다. 무엇을 하고 싶어도 할 수가 없다. 손톱만큼의 지지자들은 다 거짓이다. 돈으로 하는 정치는 돈으로 망한다. 결국 돈 떨어진 빛 좋은 개살구는 버려질 것이기 때문이다. 진실을 돈으로 가리다 보니 자신의 눈조차 돈으로 가리어 결국 얻은 것은 맹인이요, 비럭질이 된 것이다.

 더 이상 규탄해 봐야 내 입과 내 손만 더러워질 뿐… 너희는 진정 보수가 아니다. 그냥 물질만능주의와 급격한 현대화 속에서 낳은 자본주의 괴물일 뿐이다.

 그래서 감사한다. 너희로 인해서 대한민국은 더욱 강해질 것이다. 보이지 않는 희망이 다시 보이게 하고 국민이 결집할 수 있게 좋은 기회를 만들어 주어 더욱 감사하다. 너희는 너희의 죗값을 치를 것이고, 그로 인해 대한민국은 더욱 건실하고 튼튼하고 정의로운 나라가 될 것이라고 확신한다.

 끝으로 옛말에 “친구를 잘 사귀어라.” 는 말을 남기고 싶다. 

2025.01.13 - Thoughts These Days

 

Since the martial law crisis last December, rational and clear-minded citizens, including myself, have been unable to sleep peacefully for over a month. I, too, wake up in the middle of the night and immediately check the news. The overwhelming societal stress feels unbearable. I want to say that the opposition party is far too timid and scholarly right now. While I, too, pursue a principled and refined life, this is a time when a firm and decisive hammer is needed. The opposition must press harder. Their passivity only exacerbates the stress for the people—and for me—making it impossible to function.

Of course, some people seem to go about their lives without a care in the world. I envy them, sincerely. Who am I, to find myself paralyzed by the nation’s crisis, unable to decide what to do, anxiously checking news, day and night, until every part of my life feels exhausted?

The economy of the country is collapsing. Debt is reaching unimaginable levels, and yet the ruling party, foolish as ever, doesn’t understand. They only pursue their own selfish interests, failing to realize that their wealth and power depend on the very existence of the nation and its people. They know only what benefits them immediately and cannot see the bigger picture.

There is a saying: “One step back for two steps forward.” If they had truly upheld the values of conservatism, they would have bowed their heads, retreated, and sought wisdom. Instead, they deceive themselves into thinking they can buy time and apply outdated strategies to vastly different challenges. They are blind, foolish, and shortsighted. Timing is everything; when it is lost, no ideology—left or right—will matter. Refusing to adapt and selfishly clinging to survival only guarantees collective ruin.

How can they be so ignorant and reckless? Do they truly not see what is most urgent? Now is the time to prepare for the future. If they claim to be conservatives, they must at least correctly read history. The opportunity to act has already passed. The only way forward is to sincerely repent. Their arrogance and self-righteousness have led to their downfall. They thought they could control everything, but their greed and reckless maneuvers brought them to ruin.

They collapsed by their own hand. They had the time and means to resolve this crisis but chose to ignore it. Now, they are out of options. Even their remaining supporters are not truly loyal but merely opportunists. Politics driven by money will inevitably collapse under the weight of that same money. Once the money runs out, their shallow façade of prosperity will disappear.

By trying to cover truth with money, they blinded even themselves. Now, they are nothing but beggars, blind to their own condition. Criticizing them further only dirties my own hands and mouth. They are not true conservatives; they are merely capitalist monsters, the products of unchecked materialism and rapid modernization.

And yet, for this, I am grateful. Thanks to them, South Korea will become stronger. They have unintentionally given the people a reason to unite and revealed a glimmer of hope in the darkness. For that, I am thankful. They will pay for their misdeeds, and through their downfall, South Korea will grow into a sturdier, fairer, and more just nation.

Lastly, I leave them with this old saying: “Choose your friends wisely.”
